Since the late 17th century, the voracious appetite for the Indigenous made object has influenced “traditions” art makers would develop into skills.
Mastering these skills created a material culture that based ‘value’ over ‘values’. This commodification of Indigenous made objects created a divide between the customary practices of these makers.
